Stewart Cooper, PhD was director of the VU Counseling Services and a member of the Psychology Department for over three decades starting in 1987. He has been active in leadership positions in college mental health and in both Divisional and Central Governance with the American Psychological Association. He served as the President of both its Psychotherapy and its Consulting Psychology Divisions and a number of its national Boards and Committees including its Board of Directors. He is currently a Senior Research Professor and is the 2026 Past-President of the Psychotherapy Division as well as the 2026 Co-Chair of the APA Committee for the Advancement of General Applied Psychology.
