Earth Day Celebration Events

The Office of Sustainability is partnering up with several organizations and offices to celebrate and increase awareness about climate change and the environment. Be a part of protecting our campus and planet by participating in these several different events and initiatives around campus and in our community!

  • NEW! Green Your Office
  • NEW! Green Your Event
    • The Green Your Event program was developed to help encourage event planners and participants to implement sustainable practices into Valpo’s many events. By applying green practices at these events, whether it’s a small meeting or a hundred people, the Valpo Community can help reduce our waste, reduce the use of our valuable resources, and set an example of a sustainable future on our campus. • NEW! Residential Plastic Audit
    • Plastic waste is a current and ongoing threat to the environment and human health around the globe. Plastic-based pollution, which does not decompose, makes up a large portion of garbage generated locally and globally. In the US and in Porter County, the recycling rate for plastics that are recyclable is less than 10%. Help the Office of Sustainability collect important data on how much plastic is being consumed in our community. Visit our website on how to do an at home audit!
  • April 1-21st: Campus Conservation Competition
    • The residence halls will compete in a 3-week competition from April 1st through April 21nd to reduce water and electric consumption based on benchmark data taken two weeks prior to the competition. Students can earn points by reducing electric and water consumption, participating in surveys, and attending informational meetings about how to save on utilities.
  • April 19th: Plant-Based Diet
    • Join Rec Sports at 12:00 PM in the Brown and Gold Room in the Harre Union as Dee Carmichael, Registered Dietitian from Northwest Health, presents a fun and practical approach to incorporating plant-based diet practices into one’s lifestyle. Whether you’re looking to improve your eating habits by changing your diet entirely or just interested in simply reducing your consumption of animal foods, you’ll learn a lot by attending this presentation.
