The Office of Global Education

Global Education

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure the safety and security of all our students, Valparaiso University made the difficult decision in mid-March to direct all students, faculty and staff abroad on university-sponsored travel to return to the U.S. and all Spring 2020 study abroad programs in progress were cancelled. Students were able to continue their study abroad coursework through online distance learning.

The Office of Global Education is proceeding with a limited number of locations for Fall 2020, and has opened applications for Spring 2021, but will be continuing to monitor information regarding COVID-19 for those and future programs, taking into account any advisories and warnings issued by the U.S. Department of State and Centers for Disease Control, as well as other sources.

Additionally, we have implemented contingency plans and we are working hard to be ready and ensure our students are healthy, safe, and supported in a constantly and rapidly evolving situation. We will continue to share updates and information as things develop with individuals by email as is appropriate. Student health, safety and well-being has been and remains our top priority. For additional information and updates, please refer to https://www.valpo.edu/coronavirus/

In keeping with Valparaiso University campus policies for health and safety, The Office of Global Education will have limitations for in-person business. Staff will continue to monitor email and phones, and have limited walk-in hours. See below for current hours and contact information.

A lot of information is available on this website including general information, as well as detailed program information (found by clicking Programs in the navigation bar).

If you are looking to make an appointment to discuss future study abroad plans in more detail, please complete the First Time Study Abroad Advising Form. This will provide us with important information, including your availability so we can schedule a Google Hangout call with you.
