HSA Lively FAQ

  • Many clients, including Valparaiso University, were interested in investment options for the HSA plans. Lively offers the HSA plan with an investment option. However, you do not have to invest your HSA funds. This is an optional addition to the new HSA account.
  • All current Centier HSA accounts will be moved automatically to Lively’s platform effective January 2023. The funds from your Centier account will be moved to Lively no later than February 6, 2023. You will be able to see 2022 balances at that time. Your Centier debit card will remain active until February 6, 2023.
  • Lively will send you a welcome invitation. This will allow you to set-up your new account with Lively. Starting in January you will have the option to begin investing your HSA dollars.
  • Yes. Lively will send new debit cards to enrolled employees by January 1, 2023 You will not have to order a new debit card for yourself.
  • You can order debit cards for the dependents you add to your account in the Lively dashboard. Your Centier debit cards will remain active until February 6, 2023.
  • If you enrolled in the HSA during Open Enrollment your debit card will be sent 7-10 days after activation of your account.
  • With Lively’s platform you will be able to access your account online or using your mobile phone. Lively also has HSA investment options.
  • Yes. The IRS sets contribution limits. For 2023 the contribution limits are $3850 for an individual. And $7750 for a family contribution.
  • If you are 55 years of age or older, you can contribute an additional $1000 as a catch-up contribution.
  • No. At this time there have not been any changes to the Flexible Spending Account Plans.
  • Employees that have existing HSA accounts with Centier Bank were mailed a letter from Centier dated December 7, 2023.
  • Lively has great informational resources about HSAs and investing in HSAs on their website/portal under “resources”. If you have additional questions you can always reach out to human.resources@valpo.edu or Laura Childers, Benefits Manager, at Laura.Childers@valpo.edu.
  • If you would prefer to not have your HSA transferred to Lively, you may close your account by calling or visiting your local Centier branch. You may choose to transfer your account to a different provider who will serve as custodian of your account. However please note that you will no longer be able to make employee contributions via payroll to this account. Valparaiso University can only deposit your HSA payroll deductions into a Lively account.
  • Centier must receive the completed transfer request form of your new custodian at the mailing address, email, or fax number below by January 1, 2023. If we do not receive a completed transfer request by January 1, 2023, your account will be automatically transferred to Lively Inc. as custodian on February 3, 2023, and funds will be available through Lively as soon as you activate the Lively account.
    Your new custodian will also have requirements that must be done to initiate the transfer request. Please provide your new custodian with Centier’s contact information below:
