OIP Study Abroad is here for you!

In keeping with Valparaiso University campus policy of remote work, OIP Study Abroad is currently closed for in-person business. We are, however, working remotely and available to assist you with anything you may need.

A lot of information is available on this website including general information, as well as detailed program information (found by clicking Programs in the navigation bar).

If you are looking to make an appointment with a Study Abroad Advisor to discuss future study abroad plans in more detail, please complete the First Time Study Abroad Advising Form. This will provide us with important information, including your availability so we can schedule a Google Hangout call with you. It’s never too early to start talking and planning! We’re happy to talk with you no matter where you are in the process.

For all general inquires, please e-mail study.abroad@valpo.edu and a staff member will assist you.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure the safety and security of all our students, Valparaiso University made the difficult decision in mid-March to direct all students, faculty and staff abroad on university-sponsored travel to return to the U.S. and all Spring 2020 study abroad programs in progress were cancelled. Most of our students have been able to continue their study abroad coursework through online distance learning.

OIP Study Abroad is proceeding with Fall 2020, and AY 2020-21 programs as planned, but continuing to monitor information regarding COVID-19 for those and future programs and will make and share decisions in the coming weeks, taking into account any advisories and warnings issued by the U.S. Department of State and Centers for Disease Control, as well as other sources. Please be aware that the U.S. Dept. of State currently has issued a Global Level 4 Health Advisory – Do Not Travel and the CDC has issued a Global COVID-19 Pandemic Notice – Warning – Level 3, Avoid Nonessential Travel

Additionally, we are working on contingency plans and potential scenarios whether students travel abroad or they need to stay on campus with respect to academics, finances, and any other items. We are working hard to be ready and ensure our students are supported in a constantly and rapidly evolving situation. We will continue to share updates and information as things develop with individuals by email as is appropriate. Student health, safety and well-being has been and remains our top priority. For additional information and updates, please refer to https://www.valpo.edu/coronavirus/

Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns about study abroad. We appreciate your patience and understanding and hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy during this time.
