Valpo Loses 1st SouthShore Showdown
Written by Chris Kleinhans-Schulz
Thursday, 29 April 2010
The Crusader baseball team lost 8-1 against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at the first annual SouthShore Showdown at the U.S. Steel Yard in Gary, Indiana. Billy Boockford plated two Irish runners on a 1st inning single, and Notre Dame never looked back as they added six more runs in the contest, including a three-run home run by Ryan Connolly in the 9th. Paul Heinkel's late RBI ground out helped Valpo avoid the shutout, but it was not enough for the Crusaders who have now lost their third game in a row.
