As a community grounded in scholarship, freedom, and faith, we gather to mark this new chapter in the life of Valparaiso University and to celebrate the shared calling that unites us. Following the Inauguration Ceremony, all guests are invited to a Community Celebration.

Registration is required to attend both the Inauguration Ceremony and the Community Celebration. Guests may choose to attend one or both events.

For Faculty and Academic Representatives

Administrators, faculty, and staff members from Valparaiso University and all other universities are invited to participate in the Inauguration Ceremony as part of the formal academic procession. Participants will be required to wear academic regalia.

If you do not own academic regalia, you may choose to rent it from the University’s preferred vendor Herff Jones.

NOTE: Valparaiso University faculty and staff are also invited to process in regalia during the August 25 Opening Convocation Ceremony. Regalia may be rented once and used for both ceremonies, to be returned after Inauguration.

Is the inauguration ceremony open to the public?

Yes. All are welcome. All are invited to attend.

Is registration required?

Yes. In order to help us plan for an excellent experience, all attendees are required to register for either or both the Inauguration Ceremony and Community Celebration.

Where will guests be seated? 

Seating in the Chapel of Resurrection will be available on a first come, first served basis – seating in the Chapel is not guaranteed. Once the Chapel seating has reached capacity, guests will be directed to the off-site locations on campus to view a livestream. 

What is the community gathering?

Immediately following the formal Inauguration Ceremony, President Konkol will host a casual outdoor gathering on the Harre Union West Lawn. Everyone is welcome to attend this Community Celebration, even if they are not able to attend the ceremony. Attendees can expect fellowship, food, and fun. Please be sure to RSVP to help us plan for food quantity!

Is parking available?

Free, on-campus parking is available for all attendees. Please follow on-campus signage and staff directions when you arrive.

Will the ceremony be livestreamed?

Yes. A livestream link will be posted on this page prior to the ceremony.

Off-site, on-campus viewing locations will be available in the Valparaiso University Center for the Arts, Harre Union, and Christopher Center Library. These spaces are air conditioned and handicap accessible.
