About VUPD
- VUPD services are provided 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
- The department has Patrol, Investigative and Safety Units, as well as a 911 Dispatch Center. The police officers are all certified by the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy or Northwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
- The leader of the department, Chief of Police Chuck Garber, is an experienced campus police officer. He is committed to community, fair and impartial and proactive policing, along with emergency tactical response readiness. The police officers conduct safety and awareness training for students, faculty and staff. The department also maintains a close working relationship and radio communication with local police and fire departments, as well as great relationships with federal law enforcement agencies.

Offical Torch Run Member
VUPD is an official Law Enforcement Torch Run member for Special Olympics Indiana. In this role, they direct the annual Polar Plunge, which raised over $49,000 in 2018. VUPD services are provided 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
