Great Lakes Meteorology Conference

The 18th Annual Great Lakes Meteorology Conference, sponsored by the Northwest Indiana Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association will be on April 18, 2020.  This conference is entirely planned and implemented by the undergraduate meteorology students of Valparaiso University.

The theme of the 17th conference was “Breaking Boundaries and Building Leaders” and featured a diverse group of speakers from government agencies, private industry, broadcasting, and research groups.  Next year’s conference committee undoubtedly come up with an equally thought-provoking theme.  The conference features speakers from many diverse meteorological fields, including broadcasting, aviation, emergency management operations, the National Weather Service, severe weather research, and, of course, Great Lakes meteorology research, forecasting, and history. This conference also provides great networking opportunities with the speakers, as well as the other agencies in attendance. The conference is supported in part by the University Student Senate. A one-day event, doors open at 9 a.m. and concludes no later than 7 p.m. The registration fee includes lunch and dinner. It is open to any student, faculty, industry representative, or meteorologically-minded individual.
