I am currently creating an inventory of all stained glass panels on campus.  For this inventory I am taking photographs of the stained glass panels and compiling information on campus location, donor, and symbology of each panel.  I will be presenting my findings of this research at the History Extravaganza in April.  Additionally, the information I compile will be included in a booklet about stained glass on Valparaiso University’s campus. This internship has given me opportunities to sharpen my research skills by working in an archival setting.  In this environment I have been able to participate in archival duties such as scanning documents and learning preservation methods. Professor Judith Miller and Mrs. Rebecca Ostoyich have been providing excellent direction as I plot each step for the archival project.  In the archives you can see the history come to life and interact with historical documents and objects.  This has given insight into what archivists do and how fulfilling this work can be to a historian.
