I am researching the architectural history of former dorms on campus, including Dau-Kreinheder, Deaconess Hall, and Heritage Hall. My project involves finding out what happened to these dorms, including how exactly they changed over time at Valpo. To find out this history, I am going through the boxes of building records in the University Archives and Special Collections. I particularly want to find out how the buildings were used and how they were renovated over the years.
I was attracted to this internship for two reasons: First, I am a history major and thus enjoy being able to be around so many historical documents and books. Second, I am interested in doing archival work as a career. I see this opportunity as providing training and work experience in preparation for the future.
