Ann Kessler is Professor of Theatre and Department Chair. She received her MFA in Design from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. She has been designing costumes for the Department of Theatre since 1996 and selected design credits at VU include: The School for Lies, Arcadia, Sweeney Todd, Dead Man’s Cell Phone, The Arabian Nights, Tartuffe, Cabaret, Twelfth Night, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Magic Flute, Into the Woods, Miss Julie, The Pirates of Penzance, Noises Off, Medea, Electra Romeo and Juliet, and Anna Karenina. Professional design credits include productions at The University of Michigan – Le Nozze di Figaro, Moorhead State University- The Imaginary Invalid, Fiddler on the Roof, Broadway Bound, Oakland University – I Hate Hamlet, Inspecting Carol, A Little Night Music, European Repertory Company – Uncle Vanya (Joseph Jefferson Citation Nomination), Ivanov, Slavs!, Zoyka’s Apartment, The Duel (In conjunction with Steppenwolf Studio), Shattered Globe Theatre – Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Joseph Jefferson Citation), All My Sons, Theatre at the Center – Gigi, and the Flint Youth Ballet – The Nutcracker, Three Shades of Red, Con Spirito, The Rush, Subtle Currents, Kindred Spirits, and Slate. In addition to her design work at VU, Professor Kessler is also the Director of the Valparaiso University Dance Ensemble.
