Hello! My name is Jessica and I am a senior English Literature major. I am also in Valpo’s Early Entry program so I have begun working on my M.A. in English Literature and Communication this year as well! Personally, I enjoy writing narrative essays, short stories, and creative nonfiction the most. I have experience in many different types of writing such as argumentative essays, research papers, and literary analysis papers. I am most knowledgeable in MLA format but have experience in APA and Chicago as well and would be more than happy to help figure the formatting out with you! I love brainstorming sessions so whether you just got a prompt, are on the final draft, or anywhere in-between feel free to stop in for a visit! I hope to see you soon!

Hi everyone! My name is Veronica, and I’m a senior Creative Writing major with a double minor in Music and Spanish. After my time in Costa Rica last year writing projects in a second language, I’m enthusiastic to work with ESL students who are facing that same challenge in English. I also enjoy working with different kinds of writing at any point in the writing process. Whether you need a second set of eyes to look over your final draft, you have a prompt and want to brainstorm ideas for your thesis statement, you have an idea for a just-for-fun short story to write or other creative projects, you need to organize a cover letter to get that perfect internship, or anything in-between, I can help!. Whatever your own writing project may be, I’m looking forward to working on it with you in the Writing Center soon!

Hello! My name is Nikki, and I am a Psychology and Pre-Med double major with a minor in Chemistry. This is my first year working at the Writing Center after interning last semester. I am so enthusiastic to read all the different types of writing styles that are so prevalent in the Center. My favorite types of papers are creative writing and poetry because I love to read and write in a lot of those styles in my free time. I am also eager to work on many other different types of papers from research to data analysis. When focusing on a paper, I like to work on the flow of the paper to make sure all the ideas make sense and fit where they are supposed to belong. I am ready to help with anything a writer needs to get their paper to where they want it to be! Whether it’s someone to bounce ideas off of or someone to help in the final stages of the draft to make sure the paper sounds pristine, I am here to assist! I hope to see you all in the Center soon!

Hi there! My name is Daniel and I am a sophomore Environmental Engineering major in Christ College and pursuing minors in Math and Spanish. Fall 2020 will be my first semester working in the Writing Center, but during the Spring of 2020, I had an internship with the Center and am very familiar with tutoring and the center. Most of my writing experience is in argumentative academic writing, but I also enjoy creative writing because of how it influences and ties into music. In the center, I hope to help you develop skills in organizing your ideas, creating clear arguments, and expressing yourself in your writing so that the paper reflects what is going on in your head! I hope to work with you all soon!

Hello! My name is Maddison and I am a second-year student in the 5-year Physician Assistant program. I am also a member of the women’s golf team. This is my first semester working as a consultant in the writing center, and I am so excited to get to work with you all! I have experience in many areas of writing, but I am most familiar with research papers and thesis-driven analysis. I am looking forward to working with you in all areas of the writing process. Whether it is brainstorming, organizing your thoughts, or putting the finishing touches on your paper, I can’t wait to help you succeed! I hope to see you in the writing center soon!

Hello! My name is Miranda, and I am a sophomore Theater and Vocal Performance double major as well as a student in Christ College. This is my first semester working in the Writing Center and I am so excited! I have always loved literature classes and enjoy reading short stories and plays. I do, however, have experience with many different kinds of writing, such as psychology papers (APA), research papers (Chicago), and thesis-driven papers (MLA) that are often required in many classes. When I work with other students on their writing, I tend to focus on structure, topic sentences, and a clear use of quotations or evidence to support the student’s conclusions. I also find it to be very helpful when people verbalize their ideas to me before putting them down on the page, as that often helps provide a structure. I am so excited to have fruitful conversations and work with you all to develop your writing!
