Our undergraduate writing consultants are Valpo students just like you—balancing academics, extracurriculars, and a passion for helping others improve their writing. With diverse majors and interests, they bring relatable insight and encouragement to every session, offering a comfortable space to grow as a writer.

Undergraduate Writing Consultants

You can make an appointment with undergraduate consultants here at the Writing Center. We are a diverse group of students and professors from a variety of academic backgrounds and majors, who have a strong desire to help you succeed in your writing endeavors. Just select the tab to the left, according to whether you are a graduate or undergraduate student, to see the consultants available to make an appointment!

Martha B.

Martha is a sophomore English and Spanish double major from Portage, IN. This is her first year working at the Writing Center, and she’s so excited to work with everyone! Martha is involved in a lot on campus—she’s in Soul of Sol, Hooked On Tonics, Dance Ensemble, Kantorei, and Pre-Law Society! She also enjoys hanging out with her friends and practicing with her dance crew. Martha’s favorite type of writing is creative writing and rhetorical analysis, and her favorite genre is fantasy (though when she’s not doing readings for class, she’ll usually indulge in fanfiction).

Duaa B.

Duaa is a junior nursing major from Saudi Arabia. She has been working at The Writing Center for one year. Duaa speaks two languages, Arabic and English. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends, as that is her favorite way to destress. Duaa’s favorite genre of books is thriller, and her favorite type of writing is creative writing.

Alexa is a second-year Meteorology Major and French Minor, and this is her first year at the writing center! Alexa’s favorite part of the writing process is brainstorming, but she is more than happy to help you wherever you’re at! She especially enjoys argumentative and persuasive writing, but she is always open to exploring different types of writing!

Chance E.

Chance is a sophomore business management major from Lockport, Illinois. Outside of the Writing Center, he is involved in Hooked on Tonics, WVUR, Haunt, and the League of Legends Esports team here on campus. This is Chance’s first year working at the writing center, and his favorite writing style is creative writing.

Jayde is a third-year Biology Major. She is interested in healthcare, specifically psychology and oncology. This would be her first year working at the Writing Center, as she is excited to help anyone during their writing process journey.

Kate is a sophomore Electrical Engineering major with a minor in mechatronics. This is her first year working at the writing center, and she loves to be able to help others in any way possible.

Rebecca is a second-year exercise science major on the pre-health professions track. Although this is her first year as a writing center consultant, she is happy to help any student with their writing at any stage of the process.

Hayley is a second-year Health Science (pre-PA) student who loves learning new things. Although this is her first full year working at the Writing Center, she is happy to help anyone anyway that she can!

Emma T.

Emma is a junior Meteorology Major. She is most interested in severe weather and climate change. She hopes to work in broadcasting one day, so maybe you’ll see her on TV! This is her first year working at the Writing Center, but she also tutors math to middle and high schoolers. She loves to help others and is always willing to take a look at your paper!

Harley T.

Harley is a Junior Creative Writing Major with a passion for English. This is her second year working in the writing center, and she seeks to help students grow as writers while improving her own editorial skills. She’s currently the President of the Rollin’ with RPGs club on campus, as well as a member of Alliance. In her free time, you can catch her reading, writing, watching anime, gaming, or planning out the adventure for her next campaign! Harley is also the proud parent of two dogs: a chihuahua named Ambrosius and a miniature dachshund named Akasha.

Greetings, fellow knowledge seekers! Damon Virgo is your friendly neighborhood junior Chemistry major from Valparaiso, Indiana, here to bring the explosive excitement of acids, bases, and reaction mechanisms to the wonderful world of writing. Need help balancing your thesis like a chemical equation? Or maybe you’re just trying to titrate your way through an essay? No worries—Damon’s got you covered! When he’s not mixing chemicals in the lab, you’ll find him mixing metaphors and dashing through dangling participles at the Writing Center.
