Two university pastors serve the Valpo community through worship, mentoring, pastoral care, and spiritual nurture. While both pastors are Lutheran, they serve all, regardless of religious or spiritual affiliation.

Worship Opportunities
There are eight times each week to worship at the Chapel when classes are in session during the regular school year. Students are involved in all aspects of worship leadership.
Holy Communion is celebrated Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. The service is also regularly live streamed. Click here to learn more about Sundays at the Chapel.
Sunday nights at 9:00 p.m., Candlelight Evening Prayer gathers around word, song, and prayer.
Celebrate! is our weekly, contemporary Christian praise band service of Holy Communion that meets on Wednesday nights at 10:00 p.m. The service is also regularly live streamed.
Morning Prayer is a 20-minute service held every weekday when classes are in session and usually during Finals Week, too, Monday-Friday at 10:10 to 10:30 a.m. Each day offers a different style of worship through which the Valpo community joins together in prayer and praise. Monday and Friday’s speakers are regularly livestreamed.

The Chapel is more than an impressive building on campus. It’s where you’ll find great people and an active worship life. Here are some areas in which you might wish to get involved:
- Prayer Team – Serve as a member of the team that reads the community’s prayers for each Sunday morning service.
- Acolyte – Serve on a team as a torch bearer, crucifer, or book-bearer at our Sunday morning worship services.
- Altar Care – Serve on a team that shares the distinct honor of preparing the worship space for the service of Holy Communion.
- Reader – On Sunday mornings, you could read one of the scripture readings for our worship service.
- Morning Prayer Musicians – Musicians are needed to help lead or support Morning prayer worship, from keyboardists to instrumentalists to vocalists who know (or want to learn) how to cantor.
- Celebrate! Praise Team – Instrumentalists and vocalists are welcome for our Wednesday night Celebrate! Service.

Music Opportunities
Join our Wednesday night praise band service, Celebrate!, as an emcee or as a sound technician. Musicians can audition to be a part of a praise band during the first weeks of the semester.
The Valparaiso University Gospel Choir exists to unite voices through the Gospel message in song and uplift both members and listeners. Rehearsals are held Tuesdays from 4:30–5:30 p.m. in Helge Center Music Room 122. Newcomers are welcome to join the choir any time throughout the year!
Founded in 1972, Sweetwine is Valparaiso University’s traveling Christian music ministry. Through worship, fellowship, and service, Sweetwine spreads the message of Jesus Christ.
