Studio Lessons
Individualized Performance Training
Valpo’s music faculty are skilled performers who are passionate about teaching. Students who enroll in lessons receive individualized 1:1 training that bring their performance skills to the next level. Lessons are taken for college credit and can be used as elective coursework. Personalized Lessons for All Skill Levels
Studio instruction is supplemented with a required performance colloquium, which meets for one 50-minute period per week (MUS 499, 0 credits). The colloquium is required for music majors; non-majors enrolled in studio instruction are welcome to participate in the colloquium and are urged to do so.
A number of guidelines structure the studio lessons program, including the number of credits a student should take and the process for registering for lessons. For more information, consult both the Handbook for Music Students, page 9, and the University Catalog.
