Orgs: ACM & ACM-W

Valparaiso University’s CIS Department supports two student professional organization chapters – one ACM and one ACM-W. These local affiliates provide Valpo students with a link to their international parent organizations:

  • The Association for Computing Machinery is the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society. It delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. It serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources. [from http://acm.org]
  • ACM-Women supports, celebrates, and advocates internationally for the full engagement of women in all aspects of the computing field, providing a wide range of programs and services to ACM members and working in the larger community to advance the contributions of technical women.  [from http://women.acm.org]

These student organizations partner with the IEEE student chapter (hosted and supported by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department) and other groups across campus for a variety of projects.
