Math Colloquium: Prof. Melissa Desjarlais
Prof. Melissa Desjarlais, Associate Professor of Mathematics and Statistics, will give a talk in the department colloquium on Friday, December 1.
Colloquium meets at 3:30 p.m. in GEM 120. All are welcome, whether you’re registered for colloquium or not.

Title: The Rest of the Story
Abstract:
Behind any theorem, formula, or method there is a person who proved, derived, or developed the concept. We will explore some of the stories of the people who contributed to the development of mathematics, statistics, or computer science. The goal is to gain a deeper understanding and a greater appreciation for these women and men through learning about the challenges they overcame and the accomplishments they achieved.
