About Our MBA Program

Valpo’s flexible MBA program is designed to fit your schedule, with 100% online asynchronous and on-campus options – you can even mix and match. The 36-credit program includes nine core courses in key business areas and three electives in your chosen concentration to support your career goals.

General Information

The Valpo MBA is offered both 100% online and in person, giving you the flexibility to choose the learning environment that best fits your schedule. The same faculty teach both online and in-person courses, giving you the same high-quality education regardless of which format you choose. And if your circumstances change, you can easily switch between online and in-person classes.

  • Online MBA: Online courses are asynchronous, allowing you to manage your time and complete coursework on your schedule.
  • In-Person MBA: In-person classes meet in Urschel Hall on campus one evening per week.

The MBA program consists of 36 credit hours and can be completed full-time or part-time:

  • Full-Time Track:
    • Complete in as little as one year
    • Full-time students take two classes each mini-term, focusing most of their time on their academics
  • Part-Time Track:
    • Complete in approximately two years
    • Part-time students take one class each mini-term, allowing students to make steady progress toward graduation while balancing other commitments.

The Valpo MBA offers six start dates throughout the year, giving you the flexibility to begin the program when it best fits your schedule and goals. Multiple start dates are available during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Admission to the master of business administration (MBA) program is decided by the following criteria:

  1. A completed Valparaiso University graduate application.
  2. Official transcripts of all previous undergraduate and graduate work. A minimum 2.75 undergraduate GPA is required; 3.0 or higher is preferred.
  3. A minimum 3.0 GPA in all previous graduate coursework.
  4. Current curriculum vitae (CV) or resume.
  5. Two letters of recommendation.
  6. A 1-2 page reflective essay.

Please note:

  • Non-native English speakers must submit proof of English proficiency and a copy of their passport.
  • The GMAT and GRE are not required for admission to the Valpo MBA. However, if you believe your test scores strengthen your application, you are welcome to submit them for consideration.

Additional Information

Experiential learning is a key part of the Valpo MBA. You’ll apply classroom concepts through hands-on projects, case studies, simulations, and industry engagement.

Depending on the course, you may complete SAP S/4HANA enterprise software projects, develop domestic and international marketing strategies, analyze business cases from leading organizations, participate in business simulations, or interview industry professionals to solve real-world business challenges.

Students can also earn elective course credit for an internship approved by the MBA advisor. Internships are particularly valuable for students with limited professional experience as they allow them to apply classroom knowledge, build their résumés, and expand their professional networks.

Every MBA student has a dedicated academic advisor who provides personalized guidance on course planning, registration, academic progress, and University resources throughout the program.

The workload varies depending on your academic background and professional experience. As a general guideline, plan to spend 15–20 hours per week on each course, including class activities, reading, projects, and assignments.

Yes, connecting with classmates is encouraged and often required through real-world group projects. New students attend a virtual orientation to meet fellow students, faculty, and staff at the start of the semester. Many lasting professional relationships begin through these collaborations.

Yes. Previously completed graduate coursework may be eligible for transfer. Transfer credits are evaluated individually, and up to 18 approved graduate credit hours may be applied toward the Valpo MBA. 

Once we have received all required application materials, you can typically expect an admission decision within two to three weeks.
