A tour of the Valpo Solar Energy Research Facility

Scholarships

Due to Valparaiso University’s commitment to engineering, academic excellence, and service, we offer two distinguished service scholarship opportunities  and a FIRST Robotics Scholarship  through Valparaiso University’s College of Engineering:

The Caterpillar (CAT) Scholarship encourages students to use their gifts to benefit others through service. The CAT Scholarship is an annually renewable $4,000 scholarship. CAT Scholars are required to complete 20 hours of service a year through individually documented volunteer experience. CAT Scholars are seen as role models and it is a great honor to be selected for this scholarship. Valpo is very committed to service and the work of the CAT Scholars makes a great impact.

The Hesse Scholarship supports Valpo’s in-house tutoring center called the Hesse Learning Resource Center, available to all engineering students. The Hesse Scholarship is an annually renewable $2,000 scholarship. In addition to the scholarship, Hesse Scholars are asked to provide five hours of service a week to the College of Engineering, primarily through tutoring, in return for an additional annual $2,000 stipend. This is an opportunity to help your peers succeed, while deepening your knowledge of the subject matter you assist them with.

The FIRST Robotics Scholarships recognizes students who have participated in FIRST Robotics in high school. The FIRST Robotics Scholarship is an annually renewable $1,000 per year. There are no set obligations associated with receiving this scholarship, although students are strongly encouraged to continue to develop their skills by participating in Valpo Robotics. The scholarship recipients are selected based on their level of involvement in FIRST, the accomplishments of their FIRST team, their academic record, and other extracurricular activities.
