  • Theresa Carroll, Clinical Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy, presented at the Indiana Occupational Therapy Association conference in Indianapolis on November 19. Dr. Carroll presented on The Role of Occupational Therapy in Postsecondary Transition Planning. Dr. Carroll was also an invited panelist for the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Developmental Disabilities Special Interest Section Practice Chat titled: Beyond the World of Work: Supporting Meaningful Transitions for Autistic Students and Young Adults on November 17, 2022.
  • We are thrilled to announce that the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the Valparaiso University Physician Assistant Program.  The Accreditation-Continued status means that accreditation reviews will now occur every 10 years with reports submitted annually.
  • Congratulations to Janneal Gifford, academic advisor for undergraduate nursing, on the publication of her short story in the NACADA Pocket Guide.

  • Congratulations to Janneal Gifford, academic advisor for undergraduate nursing, on having her photograph selected for the 2022 NACADA Annual Conference Juried Art Exhibition in Portland Oregon.  The title of the piece is “Trans* Joy, Trans* Future.”
  • Congratulations to Karen Stacy, Administrative Assistant to the Dean, for thirty years of dedication to the College of Nursing and Health Professions.
  • Congratulations to Valpo Occupational Therapy faculty, Sara Story, EdD, OTD, OTR/L, BCG, CAPS and Theresa Carroll, OTD, OTR/L who were elected to the Indiana Occupational Therapy Association Board of Directors. Dr. Story will serve as the Mental Health Special Interest Section Co-Chair and Dr. Theresa Carroll will serve as the Children and Youth Special Interest Section Co-Chair.

  • Congratulations to Marianna Baca (BSN ’23) and Isabella Dietrich (BSN ’24) whose undergraduate research was one of only a few undergraduate presentations selected for the Midwest Nursing Research Society (MSNRS) Annual Research Conference in Des Moines, Iowa. Marianna and Isabella are part of an CONHP undergraduate nursing research team studying hypertension in college students and led by Dr. Lynette Rayman and Dr. Theresa Kessler, through her role as the Kreft endowed chair.
  • Congratulations to Christina Cavinder, CNP, RN, CPNP-PC, Assistant Dean for Graduate Nursing for being selected to receive the 2023 Valparaiso University Award for Excellence in Campus Citizenship by the Faculty Senate Executive Committee.
  • Congratulations to Kelly Migler, DNP, RN, CNE for being awarded the Daisy Faculty Award at the CONHP Recognition Ceremony on May 12th. Student nominations spoke to Professor Migler’s creative teaching style and her willingness to go the extra mile to help them be successful.
  • Congratulations to Camille Jefferson (HCL ’25) for being named one of the 2023 Institute for Leadership & Service CAPS fellows. Camille will intern this summer at By the Hand Kids Club in Chicago.
