October Update

I am pleased to share that the Presidential Search Committee has continued to make strong progress. Earlier this month, we concluded a second round of semifinalist interviews and selected the finalists. We are now preparing for the final round of interviews to take place. We were blessed with a strong pool of candidates who care deeply about Valparaiso University’s mission and future.

The committee is now prayerfully weighing a very important decision for the future of the University. We continue to meet and discern together who is most prepared to serve as Valparaiso University’s 20th president. Following the final round of interviews, the next step in the process is to put forward our recommendation to the Board of Directors. As we continue in this period of discernment, I invite you to join us in prayer—for wisdom, thoughtful conversations, and clarity as we make this important decision.

Looking ahead, we anticipate sharing the announcement of Valparaiso University’s next president with the campus community in mid to late November.

Please join us in praying for the search committee, the finalists, and the Valparaiso University community as we move through this pivotal moment. This month’s final prayer video is linked below.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support.

Community Engagement Fuels Presidential Search Progres
On behalf of the Presidential Search Committee, sincere thanks are extended for the exceptional participation in the early stages of Valparaiso University’s presidential search. The recent campus-wide survey garnered an unprecedented 614 detailed submissions, the highest level of engagement ever observed by the search consultant, reflecting the community’s strong commitment to the university’s future. Alongside the survey, numerous meetings and Zoom sessions further deepened the committee’s understanding of the leadership qualities sought in the next president. These collective insights are instrumental in shaping the forthcoming Presidential Search Prospectus. With nominations already arriving and the leadership profile set to be finalized soon, the search is gaining momentum as it prepares to officially launch in early June. The committee expresses gratitude for the community’s continued support and dedication to this vital endeavor.

Announcement of Hybrid Search Model
We are conducting a hybrid presidential search, a model selected to attract the most qualified and diverse pool of candidates. By ensuring confidentiality, we can engage exceptional leaders who may be hesitant to enter a fully open process. As the search progresses, the committee will expand to include broader campus representation, ensuring meaningful interaction with key stakeholders. This approach balances transparency and discretion, while honoring the diverse expectations of our community.
