Graduate Student Housing

Welcome to the Valparaiso University Community!

On behalf of the Division of Student Life and the Office of Residential Life, we would like to welcome you to our community! We are excited to have you joining our Valpo family! As you begin your transition to the Valparaiso community and your graduate program, we would like to share with you information about campus and local housing options.

On-Campus Housing Options

Our eight residence halls and two apartment buildings are home to 1,500 undergraduate & graduate students. While Valparaiso requires undergraduate students to reside in University-operated housing for six (6) semesters, this requirement does not apply to graduate students.

Some of our graduate students are looking for a place to stay for a few week(s) as they identify long-term off-campus housing, while other graduate students are looking for housing options that would be longer in duration. Valparaiso University offers both short-term and long-term housing options for graduate students in Alumni Hall.

All students who reside on campus must be familiar with and agree to abide by Residential Life Policies (including but not limited to visitation, alcohol, drug, and smoking policy) and the policies outlined in our Graduate Housing Agreement.

Housing Application

If you would like to live on campus you will need to complete the Graduate Student Housing Application via your Housing Self-Service on DataVU. In your application, you will be asked to provide emergency contact information and housing preferences.

At first, your password will be your student ID number and you’ll need to change your password through the Account Management System at apps.valpo.edu/ams. Setup your recovery options in case you forget your password. For additional assistance, contact the IT Help Desk.

Once your ValpoNet account has been set up you will then be able to log into datavu.valpo.edu with your credentials.

Off-Campus Housing Options

The local Valparaiso community also offers a variety of housing options at varying price points. Residential Life maintains a list of off-campus housing options for our University students. This list may be found HERE.
