Scholarship Programs

The City Colleges of Chicago Beacon Scholarship offers $8,000 per year for two years. To be eligible, students must have completed their associate’s degree, have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and be admitted into an eligible program in Valpo’s College of Business or College of Engineering.

Ivy Tech Community College transfers: We offer a $1,000 Ivy Tech Community College Partnership scholarship for students transferring to Valpo directly from Ivy Tech Community College.

Ivy-Beacon Award:  Students who are attending an Ivy Tech Northwest campus (East Chicago, Gary, Crown Point, Valparaiso, and Michigan City) and are recipients of the Ivy Tech Northwest Chancellors’ Scholarship will be guaranteed admission to Valparaiso University with a full scholarship to cover any tuition and general fee not already met with state or federal grant assistance.

  1. The Ivy Tech Community College Northwest Chancellors’ Scholarship is awarded to top academic students at the Ivy Tech Northwest campuses who have completed at least 30 units, declared a major, and have financial need.
  2. Once a student completes their Associate’s Degree with Ivy Tech, they are eligible for guaranteed admission to Valparaiso University within two years of completion at Ivy Tech with the only requirements that they provide proof of completion of the Ivy Tech degree, verification of receipt of the Chancellor’s Scholarship, and submission of a FAFSA for students eligible to complete that application for aid. The award will be indicated on a student’s financial aid award letter.
  3. Any portion of tuition and fees outstanding after state and federal grant assistance will be covered by Valparaiso University through a combination of merit scholarships and the new Ivy Beacon Scholarship award.
  4. Guaranteed admission to Valparaiso University is admission to the University. Admission to particular majors subject to additional review (Engineering, Nursing) or admission to graduate programs (including the five year Physician Assistant program) are not guaranteed and are subject to existing application process and requirements.
  5. Full tuition assistance under this program excludes graduate programs, including the graduate portion of the Physician Assistant program.
  6. Students will be assumed to enter Valparaiso University with two years(four semesters) remaining for completion of their bachelor’s degree. The offer of funding will be valid for five semesters of coursework, after which the student may appeal for additional funding. Success of this appeal is not guaranteed.
  7. Inclusion of summer term as part of this scholarship offer is subject to course availability, as well as the availability of state and federal aid.
  8. Transfer students also may be eligible for the Alumni Heritage Scholarship and the Martin Luther Award.
  9. Transfer students are also encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), in order to be evaluated for FAFSA-Based Grants.
  10. Students who receive any of the above scholarships must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress in order to have their scholarships renewed each year.

Phi Theta Kappa members: Students are eligible for a scholarship of $4,000 in addition to the transfer scholarship. (Cannot be combined with Associates Degree Completion Scholarship.)

Estimate Your Cost

The Net Price Calculator helps prospective undergraduate first-time freshmen and their families estimate the cost of attending Valparaiso University after grants and scholarships. Based on recent student award data, it provides an estimate of financial aid and remaining costs to help families plan ahead.

These estimates are not guarantees of aid, and students must still complete all admissions and financial aid requirements by the appropriate deadlines. Families with unusual financial circumstances are encouraged to contact the Office of Financial Aid for assistance.
