My name is Levi Freeman. I attended Carleton College with the intention of pursuing a degree in biology, and started taking Chinese to fulfill my language requirement. As my interest in Chinese language and culture developed, I eventually diverted from my intended major to earn a degree in Asian Studies/Chinese Literature. Since 2004 I have studied abroad in China three times, mostly recently in the MACS intensive summer program based in Hangzhou. During my time in China, I had the opportunity to be immersed in an amazing culture, see some of the world’s most beautiful landscapes, and make strides in my speaking ability. After graduating I spent two years teaching English in South Korea, and have joined the MACS program in order to further my goal of becoming a Chinese language instructor.
