My name is Alison Wojahn and I am from Kenosha, Wisconsin. My passions are theatre, paleontology, web design, and Chinese, and I desire to find a way to bring them all together for both my career and free time post graduation. I also taught Chinese in a local elementary school, and found that not only did I seem to have a knack for working with kids, but actually enjoyed it. This year my school hosted the Wisconsin State-wide annual Chinese Language Speech Contest. I was in charge of the fliers, registrations, and the finances. I also competed in the contest and tied for third with an A- grade in the advanced category (I'll admit there were only four people in the category). The summer before my senior year I studied abroad in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. During this time I had a few internships, traveled to Beijing, and even took a four day trip to the southern part of the province on my own. For my thesis I wrote an autobiography in Chinese. This past January I went to China on a geography/ biology study tour.
In the future I hope to go into a career in paleontology. I hope to be involved in digs in China through American universities and museums. I have always had a deep passion for paleontology, and feel that I could be of assistance on a dig in China for both field work and for (at this point) basic conversational skills. Since I am only interested in preparation work and digs (more of the manual labor side of the field) I am hoping to be able to continue translation work or teaching. I also hope to keep theatre and web design in my life in my spare time. Fortunately I have had experience in all of the above fields, office work, and accounting, so I have my options open to me. These are the things that I love and hope that I can do them all, maybe simultaneously.
