Language Classes for Children
Seeking a Tutor?
If you are a community member interested in hiring a private tutor for yourself or a family member, you may contact the department if you would like us to advertise your need to students and faculty. Send us an email detailing your need, preferably in the form of a Word document that we can forward to faculty and post in our classrooms.

Valparaiso International Center (VIC)
Bridges to World Languages
Valparaiso Community Schools & VU have partnered to offer foreign language exploration classes to 4th and 5th grade students. In this program, VU students introduce students to the basics of French, German, or Spanish as well as elements of culture, in a one-hour-a-week class.
Kinder lernen Deutsch
Kinder lernen Deutsch is a once-a-week, after school program that introduces first, second, and third-grade children from Valparaiso to beginning German language and culture through games, songs, art projects and fun. The teachers are Valpo students who are studying German, Elementary Education, or both.

For legal reasons the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures is unable to provide translating services. We can, however, recommend two independent organizations:
