City Colleges of Chicago
The partnership between the Valpo and City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) is important to both institutions as a means of increasing access to and success in educational programs for all students and especially underrepresented students, which both institutions are committed to serving. Valpo and the CCC hereby agree to the following terms related to the transfer of students and course credits between the institutions pursuant to a business transfer pathway program.
Admission Requirements
Students who complete the General Education Core Curriculum (GECC) for the state of Illinois and/or successfully complete an associate of arts (A.A.), associate of general studies (AGS), or an associate of applied science (AAS) degree from CCC will be guaranteed admission (minimum transfer GPA of 2.50) to Valpo’s College of Business in pursuit of a bachelor of science in business administration.
Pursuant to this agreement, CCC transfer student may pursue bachelor of science in business administration (BSBA) within the College of Business at Valpo. The majors within the BSBA degree path include: accounting, business analytics, finance, management, marketing, and supply chain and logistics management.
CCC students must obtain and maintain a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA with no grade lower than a “C” in general education and business administration prerequisites in order for courses to transfer to Valpo pursuant to the business transfer pathway. Any GPA under a 2.50 will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Additionally, Center for Prior Learning, including work experience, military service, College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), and Advanced Placement/International Baccalaureate (IB) will be considered as credit bearing on a case-by-case basis.
Reverse Business Transfer Pathway
In collaboration with CCC, Valpo will also participate in a reverse transfer. The reverse business transfer pathway provides an opportunity for students who have enrolled at Valpo as transfer students from CCC to transfer their earned Valpo credits back to CCC to complete their associate’s degree. Valpo and CCC will notify students eligible for the reverse business transfer pathway to take advantage of this opportunity.
Business Transfer Pathway Benefits
All eligible CCC students participating in the business transfer pathway will receive the following benefits from Valpo when they transfer under this agreement:
Admission Benefits
- Guaranteed admission to designated programs in the Valpo College of Business with a minimum of 2.5 cumulative transferable GPA from CCC.
- Junior standing upon transfer (requires minimum of 60 semester credit hours). Transfer credit evaluation for up to 62 credit hours toward degree completion.
- Early academic advising provided by Valpo transfer admission counselors.
- Valpo will make available key academic support, orientation, and enrollment services to Valpo-bound CCC students to facilitate their college retention and transition to Valpo.
- To ensure that CCC students receive the most up-to-date and tailored advising on transfer opportunities, Valpo will dedicate a transfer pre-enrollment counselor to CCC students. Students will meet with the pre-enrollment counselor at least once per semester to remain on track for successful transfer.
- Students with a 3.5 or higher cumulative transferable GPA from CCC will be considered for Christ College – The Honors College designation with a separate application. CCC and Valpo agree to develop programming to support students in their future careers through, including, but not limited to, mentoring, career exposure, and speaker engagement events.
Financial/Scholarship Benefits
- Valpo commits to supporting students in the business transfer pathway to baccalaureate completion through the provision of scholarship supports (see scholarship chart below). A tuition discount is for students pursuing the master in business administration program via Valpo’s Back2Beacon Scholarship (see graduate studies benefits below).

Housing Benefits
- Campus housing accommodations full-time during a full academic term at set rates for the entering academic year. Housing allocation operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Students can begin the process of arranging their housing accommodations with Valpo as soon as they complete their registration.
Graduate Studies Benefits/MBA Tuition Discount
- Pursuant to this agreement, provided that the student identifies CCC on their Valpo admission application form, all CCC graduates who complete the bachelor of science in business administration at Valpo will receive a 30% tuition reduction in pursuit of the master in business administration (MBA) program at Valpo. In addition, those who are eligible for the MBA program will receive a waiver of application fee. No application fee waiver, tuition credit, or refund for courses shall be made retroactively for any eligible CCC already enrolled at Valpo as of the date of execution of this agreement; however, the tuition reduction shall be applied to such eligible CCC graduates whose course enrollment occurs following the execution of this agreement.
- Eligible CCC graduates must inform Valpo admission representatives about their CCC affiliation at the time of application to receive the tuition reduction. Students have a two-year grace period to enroll. Valpo may change tuition rates at any time at its sole discretion and the reduction will be calculated based on the then-current tuition in effect for the applicable academic term for the MBA program. Valpo shall inform CCC on any change its tuition rates within 60 days of implementation. Except as provided under this agreement, CCC students and alumni should not be entitled to any other reduction and are subject to all other admission and continuation requirements as set forth in the respective Valpo policies and catalogs.
