75% of us can identify those who struggle, but only 15% feel equipped to know what to do to help them. Inspiring Comfort seeks to amplify the science of human care through teaching the skill of comfort.

This year Valpo is focusing on creating a culture of comfort by offering basic training in comfort to all first-year students, plus in-depth training to RAs and Peer Ministers as well as team-specific training through athletics.

We are also offering a workshop to all faculty and staff. Through this workshop, you will assess your own gifts for comforting — and your personal “awkward zone” that may keep you feeling like you don’t know what to do. You will learn about the skills of comfort from Inspiring Comfort CEO Jen Marr and be equipped with tools to better offer comfort in your professional and personal life. If you prefer not to eat in a group sitting, you are still welcome to attend. The space will enable social distancing as well.
