The Mission of SALT
The Social Action Leadership Team (SALT) is the Spirit-led social justice ministry of the Chapel of the Resurrection at Valparaiso University in which students from all walks of life come together in community to embody the Christian call to be the “salt of the earth” (Matt. 5:13). SALT helps students develop a passion and practice of social action. SALTers reflect God’s love for people by cultivating the skills of community organizing, raising awareness, and fund development. SALTers are equipped to lead lives of social justice and serve as agents for positive change in their communities.
Every year, the Social Action Leadership Team (SALT) of the Chapel of the Resurrection at Valparaiso University selects one project for which to raise money, the World Relief Campaign. This is in addition to numerous activities done locally which generate hundreds of volunteer hours by students and benefit the Valparaiso area. SALT is involved in local volunteering, spring break service trips, and church-based community organizing.

World Relief Campaign 2022
The Humanity and Hope Foundation was selected for the 2022 World Relief Campaign, organized annually for Valparaiso University by the Social Action Leadership Team (SALT). Humanity and Hope United is an organization based in Warsaw, Indiana and assists three villages in Honduras. Our campaign entitled “HOPE for Honduras: Healthcare Opportunities for Personal Empowerment” is working to raise $25,000 in an effort to turn two shipping containers into fully functioning health clinics for the villages that Humanity and Hope United serves. These clinics will serve as a sterile and safe environment for villagers to receive healthcare, and will also be staffed by trained healthcare professionals. They will also serve as a designated space for wholistic health education for the members of these communities and provide them with future job opportunities. Having these clinics within the villages will enable the individuals they serve to be proactive in their own health and have access to reliable and affordable healthcare.
To follow our campaign efforts, follow SALT on Instagram or Facebook at @valposalt. Update: The campaign for 2022 has concluded with $13,435.79 raised. Thank you to everyone who supported it!
