Vice President for Student Life
Steve Janowiak joined Valparaiso University in 2013 and currently serves as the Vice President for Student Life. In this role, Steve provides leadership and oversight for all areas in the Student Life Division and serves as the co-advisor for the Valparaiso University Student Senate.
Carolyn Whittier, Ph.D.
Associate Dean of Students
Carrie Whittier joined Valparaiso University in 2012 and currently serves as the Associate Dean of Students. In this role, Carrie provides leadership and oversight for Fraternity and Sorority Life, Leadership and Volunteer Programs, Student Philanthropy, the Health Center, Career Center, and Counseling Services. Carrie is also a partner in many cross-campus initiatives such as Valpo Leadership Education Across Departments, Valparaiso University Dance Marathon, TEDxValparaisoUniversity, Valparaiso University Spring Service Trip program, and many others.
Associate Dean of Students
Ryan Blevins joined Valparaiso University in 2008 and currently serves as the Associate Dean of Students. In this role, Ryan provides leadership and oversight for the Office of Residential Life, Campus Judicial and Conduct processes, and serves as one of the crisis response managers for the University, representing Student Life. Ryan also serves as the co-advisor for the Student Senate.
Bonnie Dahlke Goebbert
Assistant Dean of Students for Strategic Initiatives
Bonnie Dahlke Goebbert joined Valparaiso University in 2011 and currently serves as the Assistant Dean of Students for Strategic Initiatives. In this role, Bonnie is responsible for the orientation and transition of new undergraduate students into the university, conceptualizing and building programs to help at-risk populations persist, and implementing systems and programs supporting undergraduates to degree completion. Bonnie specializes in strategically creating holistic learning environments through cross-campus collaboration in which students can successfully progress from enrollment through graduation.
Director of the Career Center
Tom Cath joined Valparaiso University in 2009 and currently serves as the Director of the Career Center where he oversees the delivery of a broad range of services, resources and programs to assist all students with their career and professional development. This includes, but is not limited to, advising and coaching students and creating partnerships across campus and with external constituencies such as employers, alumni, parents, and other key stakeholders.
Stewart Cooper, Ph.D.
Director of Counseling Services
Stewart Cooper joined Valparaiso University in 1987 and currently serves as the Director of Counseling Services. In this role, Stewart oversees the Counseling Center, SAAFE, OADE and ONUS VU Suicide Prevention. Also a professor within the psychology department, Stewart’s professional development has followed the scientist/practitioner model of integrating teaching, research, and scholarship with clinical practice.
Director of Residential Life
Katie Bye joined Valparaiso University in 2016 and currently serves as the Director of Residential Life. In this role, Katie provides leadership and oversight for the Office of Residential Life, supervision of the Residential Life professional staff, and direction on policies, programs, and initiatives which support and enhance the learning objectives and strategic goals of the University, Division of Student Life, and the Office of Residential Life.
Kelley Eshenaur, DNP APRN CNS FNP-C
Director of the Student Health Center/Nurse Practitioner
Kelley Eshenaur joined Valparaiso University in 2013 and currently serves as the Director of the Health Center. In this role, Kelley is responsible for general oversight, direction, and supervision of all clinical and administrative functions of the Health Center. In addition to overseeing the Health Center as the director, she provides medical care as a family nurse practitioner. She provides prevention and wellness education, support, and medical counseling to facilitate informed choices, support positive behaviors, and encourage life-long healthy lifestyles.
