This 15-credit certificate is open to graduate students seeking certification in the broad area of sports media. The employment market for this certificate includes any sports media outlet, especially those on the Internet, where sports content has been growing; sports information offices in any sport, collegiate or professional; and sports management positions.

The department regularly offers sport media courses as well as associated video field production courses, the latter in conjunction with the University’s participation in the NCAA Division I Horizon League and through the sports division of the campus radio station, WVUR. Students have access to high-definition video and audio production studios and field equipment and postproduction labs.

The internship experience may be carried out in conjunction with Valparaiso University’s Horizon League Webcasting requirements and other media functions associated with league participation, the Valparaiso University Sports Information Office functions, and/or other relevant internship sites in the region.
