The Bell and Beacon
The Bell and Beacon (BBs) is located on the northwest side of the Harre Union and is your space to hang out with friends, grab a snack, or play games. Free for all Valpo student students, faculty, staff, and guests, we have billiards, shuffleboard, table tennis, board games, and rental equipment. There are regularly hosted events in BBs including watch parties, Trivia Thursdays, live music, and more!

The Bell and Beacon has a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational equipment available to the Valparaiso University community.
Before you rent any equipment we require you to fill out this one-time Reservation and Rental Contract.

Equipment Rental Policy
All payments must be made in full, in cash, at the time of rental. Rental prices are located with The Bell and Beacon desk attendant. The listed rental price is for one night only. Therefore, if renters would like to rent the equipment for more than one night, they should pay the listed price times the number of nights.
All equipment must be returned in the same condition in which it was rented. Cleaning is the renter’s responsibility. The renter will be charged for items that require cleaning upon return.
If customers fail to return equipment by the time specified at check out, they will accrue a daily late fee.
Broken Equipment Policy
When customers rent equipment from The Bell and Beacon, they assume responsibility for damages once the item is in their possession. Desk attendants will check equipment condition before renting to customers.
Customers who damage or break equipment will be held financially responsible for the replacement cost. Fees and charges must be paid in cash to the desk attendant on duty. The Bell and Beacon Desk Staff will accept the payment within one month or before the end of the semester, whichever deadline comes first. If a customer fails to pay within this allotted window, they will incur additional charges. Customers who fail to follow The Bell and Beacon policies may not be allowed to utilize equipment in the future.

Monday- Friday: 8 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Saturday- Sunday: 12 p.m. – 11 p.m.
