International Students

International Undergraduate Admission Process

Follow the admission requirements below if you are not a U.S. citizen and do not have permanent residence in the United States.

All application materials below are required beginning for the Spring 2024 semester.

Begin your profile registration and tell us some basic information. Then proceed to complete each tab within the application form. After creating an application login, you may check your status anytime.

Your reflective essay should summarize:

  • Why you are interested in studying in the United States
  • Why you are applying to Valparaiso University
  • Your interest in the degree program
  • How this program impacts your professional development

International student applications that show completion of non-U.S. accredited secondary education or college work outside of the United States must be evaluated at the applicant’s expense. This includes work that has been evaluated and reported on your transcript by your U.S.-accredited institution. If the applicant submits transcripts from multiple universities, each set of transcripts will require a separate evaluation.

We accept credential evaluations from all NACES members. World Evaluation Services (WES) and International Education Evaluation are our preferred transcript evaluation partners, although you may choose the company that best fits your needs.

You do not need to submit additional copies of your transcript to Valparaiso University; they will be included in your credential evaluation.

We do not waive this requirement, nor do we accept evaluations from other services. The evaluation must be received before a student’s application can be reviewed.

For more information on accredited institutions outside the United States, please refer to the Council for Higher Accreditation (CHEA).

We currently recommend course by course transcript evaluations from World Evaluation Services (WES) or International Education Evaluation, although we do accept evaluations from any NACES member.

International Education Evaluation offers a 3-day processing time, as well as discounted pricing to Valparaiso University applicants.

Please follow the directions below if you choose to send your Valpo transcript evaluation through WES.

Select ‘VALPARAISO UNIVERSITY’ and ‘OFFICE OF UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION’ as a recipient to send ‘OFFICIAL’ WES evaluations.

  • Under ‘Your Information’, select ‘Report Recipients’
  • Scroll down to ‘Recipient 2: Institution(s) receiving your report’
  • In the ‘Institution or Company’ field, type in ‘Valparaiso University’. It will automatically populate and select ‘Valparaiso University’.
  • Now you will be in the pop-up screen called ‘Add Recipient’. Under the field titled ‘School/Division’, select ‘Office of Undergraduate Admission’.
  • Once that is selected, scroll down and select ‘add recipient’.

If you have questions or encounter issues with either service, please email undergraduate admissions and have your reference number handy.
